How is Cover Oregon involving the public in its work?
Cover Oregon has been working closely with consumers, small businesses, insurance carriers, and others as we develop our programs. Examples include:
Individual and Small Employer Consumer Advisory Committee. This committee meets monthly and serves in an advisory capacity to the board of directors. The committee is charged with providing the board with diverse perspectives on Cover Oregon issues and operations, drawing on their experiences as consumers and small employers.
Workgroups. We’ve convened several workgroups to help shape our work. Consumer organizations and business associations provide guidance on outreach, and we have regular meetings with insurance carriers about technology and market selection issues. There’s also a Tribal Technical Workgroup where Cover Oregon staff members meet regularly with experts on the Tribal Health System.
Public meetings. Monthly meetings of the Cover Oregon board of directors and the Consumer Advisory Committee are open to the public and allow for public participation through public testimony.
Public input. We’ll be seeking public input on a variety of policy decisions that will impact how Cover Oregon will operate. The public can comment and sign up for e-mail updates through our website, coveroregon.com.
